Hi guys, my name is Kev and I have been playing drums (Premier Genista, black lacquer) off and on for 15 years. My concern is in my right arm. I am experiencing rapid fatigue and slow to heal and I mean it doesn't take long before my right arm gets wasted and feels heavy when playing. There is no burn or pain associated. I am aware that my right arm is doing more work than my left but it's nowhere near the stamina that it used to be when I first started playing in 1996. In retrospect, when I first started out playing in punk bands, I played fast 16th notes on the ride for a long period of time I could sustain with ease. However, now it gets burnt out when merely play hard for 15 minutes. Please note that I have good technique, much better than what it used to be, that should enable me to last longer.
What I've noticed when not playing is that sometimes my right hand gets cold when my left hand is warm. Maybe the circulation is bad. Reynolds Syndrome? Tennis elbow? Maybe this is an Overuse Injury? If anyone has experienced the same thing or they can give me some advice it would be great.
Best regards, Kev

Hi Kev, I forwarded this to Dr. Greg Werner who has written some columns for us in the past. Will post what he responds with!
Regards,
Heather
