An Interstellar Trip to Honor George Clinton

It'll be one city under a groove in this all-star tribute to George Clinton, the "Godfather" of funk, under the musical direction of Ray Chew Live (American Idol, BET Awards, Showtime at the Apollo) and hosted by Dr. Bob Lee (WBLS). We'll celebrate George and his 50 years in the funk and soul business with an amazing variety of P-Funk friends, musical collaborators, and other guests. The evening will also commemorate the lives of Parliament/Funkadelic members no longer with us.

Featuring: Paul Shaffer, Nona Hendryx, Vernon Reid, Fab 5 Freddy, Dallas Austin and Full Force, Sheila E., Tye Tribbett, Doug E. Fresh and Questlove. Tribute video conceived and produced by Reginald Hudlin and Vivian Scott Chew.

Toca Percussion announced today that iconic percussionist, writer, producer and vocalist, Bob Conti has joined the Toca artist roster. Conti began his professional career in 1970 with Buck Ram's Original Platters vocal group and has since played with a wide range of multi-platinum artists including Diana Ross, Donna Summer, Bon Jovi's Ritchie Sambora, Wilson Picket and The Temptations. For over 20 years, Conti has regularly performed with eight-time Grammy Winner Jose Feliciano.

"I'm excited to be a member of the Toca Team," said Conti. "The company's reputation for making professional quality instruments assures me that no matter where I am performing or who I am performing with, I know I am playing the very best."

On all of his upcoming television and video performances, Conti will be playing Toca Congas, Bongos and Timbales, as well as a variety of percussion table items including shakers, maracas and tambourines.
Chick Corea Throws Ultimate 70th Birthday Party with Herbie, Bobby, John and More at Blue Note Blowout, November 1-27

The incomparable Chick Corea, known for his genre-defying brilliance, captures the evolution of his adventurous music career with a month-long 70th birthday celebration at New York's Blue Note, featuring ten different star-studded lineups in more than forty performances.

Fresh off a 70-city, multi-continental tour with Return to Forever IV, Corea returns to Greenwich Village fifty years after his debut on the NYC scene, bringing along a dizzying slate of guests, all of whom have been integral players in his legendary career:

Drum Channel has launched a global competition to find the best drum soloist on the plant, with a cool $1000 first prize!

For those not already in the know, Drum Channel invites drummers of any age, anywhere in the world to submit original videos of their drum solos. The winner will receive a $500 credit for plus a $500 complete Drum Channel DVD collection. In addition nine runners up will receive a copy of the brilliant JR Robinson DVD ‘The Time Machine’.

This incredible Drum Channel competition calls on you to submit a three minute video of your best drum solo  by the 15th November 2011 and have it judged on its feel, groove, technique, style, showmanship and overall performance. The Drum Channel community will pick five semifinalists from the all the entries and a panel of five professional drummers will chose a further five wild card semifinalists. All ten semifinalists will be announced on a Drum Channel live show on the 22nd November 2011, at which time the five professional drummers will pick five finalists.

The Grand Prize winner will be chosen by the judges and announced on a Drum Channel Live show on the 29th November 2011. Entrants should be sure to watch the Drum Channel shows to see if they are chosen as semifinalists or the Grand Prize winner.
