In 1992 Sony/BMG recruited Chambers as a product development executive for its alternative roster (Tool, Dave Mathews,TLC, Usher). In 1996, Chambers relocated to New York City where he was National Director of Sales for Hybrid Records (Guster, Mike Errico, Art Garfunkel). In 2009 Chambers was appointed Global director A&R Department for Redeye distribution, where he signed Loudon Wainwright III leading to Chambers' third Grammy® win.

Chambers re-located to Tampa in 2009 and began teaching drums. In 2010, Jim Chambers’ Percussion Party held its first Drum Bash as a recital to showcase 20 of Chambers’ most talented students. The event offers the students an opportunity to perform in front of a live audience as well as to record their performances for YouTube® and other outlets.
